14th Act of Self-Love: Practice Giving Yourself a Hug
Your may think it’s silly but your body will appreciate it, so hear me out.
Every human being has a physical and emotional need for touch and hugging is an intimate form of touch. There’s power in hugging even if you’re giving it to yourself.
Because our skin is sensitive, research shows that physical touch releases oxytocin which provides a sense of security, soothes distressing emotions, and calms cardiovascular stress. It’s also a form of showing self-compassion.
So….Go hug yourself!
And take at least one deep breath before releasing.
