10th Act of Self-Love: Practice Affirming Yourself
The purpose of this act is to basically reflect on the positive aspects of yourself to help maintain a positive self-image. Instead of dwelling on things you would like to change; focus on the things you like about yourself.
Affirmations can be extremely practical for interrupting negative perceptions you have developed about your appearance, your abilities, or your potential.
The more you affirm something, the more firmly your mind will accept it. Repetition is the key to making affirmations effective.
start with "I," and be short, clear, and positive. Once you create your affirmation put it somewhere where you can see it daily and use it to help you refocus every time you feel like you turning into negative Nancy.
To this day, I remember a self-affirmation I repeated to myself when I was in college. I wrote it on a sticky note and placed it on my mirror. Whenever I struggled with low self-esteem, I said this to myself.
“I am an amazing woman who is learning and growing everyday”
