9th Act of Self-Love: Practice taking time for yourself
It’s a simple act that makes us feel guilty for even thinking about doing it. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your well-being in order to give to others. You have to realize that you are worth whatever amount of time you need to recharge.
As an introvert, I crave my own space. If a long period of time goes by without “me time”, I get moody and I’m not too happy with that version of myself.
You’ve heard that saying..
Fill your cup so you can pour into others.
It’s time to give yourself permission to make time for yourself. Here are some quick ideas:
- Take a nap
Just sit, relax & clear your mind
Take a long hot shower or soothing bath
Take a walk
Spend sometime in nature
Spend some time listening to your favorite songs
Get comfortable and read a book, or your favorite magazine
You get the picture, It’s your responsibility to create healthy boundaries around having time to re-energize. You will be in a better mood to interact and be of service to others. I promise!
Here’s a link to a 3 minute clip of Iyanla Vanzant & Oprah discussing this very topic in a profound way. It’s a must see.
